Your wiring harness or wiring loom connects your new panel down to the engine room and allows you to connect up your new sensors.

Our wiring looms have 12 individually coloured 16.5 amp wires and two 21 amp wires. These wires are bound / taped together every 300mm through their entire length. This prevents the wares rubbing together due to vibration and boat movement.

The loom is then encased in heavy duty solid (not split) conduit. This protects the wiring from rubbing against the boat and makes the loom much more robust and safer.

The last stage in assembly of your new loom is to use very heavy duty heat shrink tube with heat activated glue to bond the wiring loom to the conduit. This prevents any chance of the wiring rubbing the inside of the conduit.

The loom should not be run through the bilge. It should be clipped up every 300mm as high as possible in the boat. When passing through bulkheads or internal fixings a grommet should always be used ( a short length of appropriate sized plastic water pipe should do). Never force or pull hard on the loom as this may break the wires. Never force the loom into tight bends as this may break the wires in the loom.

The last meter of the loom is not wrapped to allow you to route the wiring around your engine / engine room. This wiring will need to be protected once in place ( this is done for you if the loom is ordered at the same time as the panel).
